I am familiar with both in-person and online class formats. I have also been a teaching assistant for courses in qualitative research methods, quantitative research, social movements, and gender and public policy. My background has also prepared me to teach courses in public opinion, survey methods, political behavior, gender and politics, campaigns and elections, political parties, policy analysis, as well as courses in social movements and organizations. I am able to teach these courses at the undergraduate or graduate levels. As a former community organizer for many years, I have an energetic teaching style and bring my personal passion for politics into the classroom. Because of this professional background, I am able to weave into lectures real-life experiences that tangibly ground students in theoretical concepts. Additionally, when a student’s interest for politics is sparked in the course, I can directly connect them with organizations and campaigns in the external political landscape. As an instructor, I welcome the experience to work with students of many different backgrounds, because this to me is representative of the American experience.
